1. EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
The contribution of the Spanish University system to the creation of the European area of higher education and research, and their full integration in it, implies a profound transformation of all aspects related to the Spanish university structure. That is why Dr 55/2005 of 21 January, establishing the structure of the University teaching and governing the University degree, as well as the RD 56/2005 of 21 January, which regulates the official University postgraduate studies was published in Spain. As a result, on July 27, 2007, the Government Council of the University of Alicante approved the regulations for the official titles of masters degree and doctorate from the University of Alicante.
However, in 2007, was approved in Spain Royal Decree 1393 / 2007 of 29 October, establishing the management of official university studies, amended by RD 861/2010, July 2 (Official Gazette of July 3). Royal Decree 1393 / 2007, in his only derogatory provision established the repeal of RD 55/2005 of 21 January, establishing the structure of university education and regulate the official university degree and the repeal of the RD 56/2005 of 21 January, regulating postgraduate official university studies, without prejudice to the second transitional provision. Also Royal Decree 1393 / 2007, amended by RD 861/2010, in its article 8, establishes University studies leading to the obtaining of official status and validity throughout the national territory is divided into three cycles, respectively called undergraduate, master's and doctorate, pursuant to article 37 of law 6/200121 December, on universities, in its new wording given by the law 4/2007 of 12 April, which amended the previous.
For the foregoing, it must develop and adopt a procedure on the extinction of the studies leading to the obtaining of official titles of master.
2. SCOPE OF APPLICATION
This procedure shall apply to postgraduate official university studies covered by the RD 56/2005 of 21 January and the curricula leading to the degree of master, regulated by Royal Decree 1393 / 2007 of 29 October, amended by RD 861/2010, July 2 (Official Gazette of July 3).
3. CHANGE OF CURRICULUM: PROCEDURE
The change of studies may be carried out:
1. at the request of the person concerned or interested
Those wishing to switch to the new curriculum should apply to the management centre or the Centre for studies of doctorate and graduate (CEDIP), as appropriate, in the period to be specified. If it meets the requirements, shall be granted change if it is not explicit resolution within a period of 10 working days from the completion of the registration period. If you dismiss the petition against the resolution, which does not exhaust the administrative authority and in accordance with articles 114 and 115 of the law 30/1992 of November 26, legal regime of public administrations and common administrative procedure, amended by law 4/1999 (Official Gazette of 14 January 1999), appeal may be filed before the Rector, as envisaged in article 100 of the Statute of the University of Alicante within one month from the day following that on which
the notification to take place.
The granting of the change of studies will be irreversible.

4. CONDUCT OF REVIEWS OF STUDIES ON EXTINCTION

Tests will be carried out in the two academic years following the last where there is such subjects. For each academic year, centres and CEDIP established these exams in periods
adopted in the official academic calendar.
5. ADMISSION OF STUDENTS IN SCHOOL CURRICULA IN DANGER OF EXTINCTION
In the curricula in extinction not shall be admitted students to initiate studies that, after the recognition of credits, had yet to overcome any subject without teaching, following the recognition of credits.
6 ELECTIVE SUBJECTS AND SUBJECTS WITHOUT TEACHING
The optional subjects become extinct when they extinguish the course to which they belong.
As a general rule, not be permitted enrollment in subjects without teaching curricula in danger of extinction if it has not been enrolled them in previous years.
The Department responsible for a course without teaching in the process of extinction will be obliged to keep the course, publish the relevant information through the channels provided by the University of Alicante for these issues and assign responsible teachers that must make mentoring and develop and evaluate the corresponding examination.
7. ADDITIONAL PROVISION. DENOMINATIONS
All designations contained in the present procedure of individual bodies of Government, officials and members of the University community as well as any other denomination in male shall be carried out and will be used interchangeably in gender male or female, depending of the owner to play or sex of the person to which reference is made.
8. ENTRY INTO FORCE
This procedure shall enter into force the day following its publication in the BOUA.
